Who Is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is true God and true man, one person with two natures, sent by the Father to save sinners and restore the world.

Jesus is not merely a moral teacher, spiritual guide, or inspirational figure. He is God come in the flesh. From all eternity, He is the Son of God, through whom all things were made. In the fullness of time, He took on human flesh, being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.

God does not remain distant from human suffering or brokenness. In Jesus, God comes near, to live our life, bear our sin, and defeat death itself.

What Difference Does Jesus Make?

Jesus changes everything because He deals honestly with our deepest problem, and provides a real solution.

The Bible teaches that humanity is broken by sin. This is not just about bad behavior, but about a broken relationship with God that we cannot repair ourselves. No amount of effort, sincerity, or self-improvement can fix what sin has damaged.

Jesus makes the difference by doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves:

  • He reveals the truth about our condition (this is the work of God’s Law)
  • He provides forgiveness, life, and salvation (this is the work of the Gospel)

Because of Jesus:

  • Guilt is replaced with forgiveness
  • Fear of death is replaced with hope
  • A restless striving is replaced with peace and rest in God’s promises

Christian faith is not about becoming a better version of yourself, but about receiving a new identity in Christ.

What Did Jesus Do for Me?

Jesus lived, died, and rose again for you!

Jesus perfectly fulfilled God’s Law in our place, loving God and neighbor without fail. Where we disobey, Christ obeyed. Where we stand guilty, Christ stands righteous.

He then willingly suffered and died on the cross, bearing God’s judgment against sin. His death was not an accident or merely an example; it was a once-for-all sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.

On the third day, Jesus rose bodily from the dead. His resurrection is God’s public declaration that:

  • Sin is forgiven
  • Death is defeated
  • Eternal life is secured

Everything Jesus did, He did for us and for our salvation.

Why Should I Believe in Jesus?

Because Christianity is not built on wishful thinking or moral advice, but on God’s action in history, and His promises to you!

Faith in Jesus is not blind belief. It rests on:

  • The historical life, death, and resurrection of Christ
  • The consistent witness of Scripture
  • God’s promise that forgiveness and life are given freely for Christ’s sake

Most importantly, Christianity does not ask, “Have you done enough?”
It asks, “Do you trust what Christ has already done?”

Salvation is received by grace alone, through faith alone, for the sake of Christ alone. Even this faith is God’s gift, created by the Holy Spirit through the Gospel.

Where Can I Find Jesus Today?

Jesus is risen and ascended, yet He is not absent.

He continues to come to His people through the Means of Grace:

  • His Word, where He speaks forgiveness and truth
  • Holy Baptism, where He joins us to His death and resurrection
  • The Lord’s Supper, where He gives His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins

Here, Jesus is not symbolic or distant. He is present and active, giving what He promises.

In Short

Jesus is:

  • God with us in His incarnation
  • God for us in His cross
  • God giving Himself to us in Word and Sacrament
  • He is not the Jesus of sentimentality or self-help

He is the crucified and risen Lord, who saves sinners by grace and gives eternal life as a gift!

If you want to know this Jesus, you are invited not first to do, but to receive!
