OUR STORY

Every Church has a Beginning!

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church began not with a building or a program, but with the Word of God faithfully proclaimed and received.

How Did Holy Trinity Begin?

Holy Trinity was formed in the early 1970s as families in the growing Land O’ Lakes area gathered around a shared conviction:

  • Christ must be preached clearly, His gifts given freely, and His promises trusted fully.

The congregation held its first Lutheran worship service on April 15, 1973. In its earliest years, Holy Trinity worshiped in temporary spaces, including homes, chapels, and shared facilities, yet remained centered on Word and Sacrament. From the beginning, the focus was never on permanence, but on being gathered by Christ Himself.

The name Holy Trinity was chosen as a confession of faith:

  • The Father who sends,
  • The Son who saves,
  • And the Holy Spirit who gathers the Church through the Gospel.

How Has Holy Trinity Grown?

Over the decades, Holy Trinity has grown from a small mission congregation into an established church family with a permanent campus, dedicated worship space, and ministries serving all ages.

That growth has included seasons of expansion and seasons of challenge. Like many churches, Holy Trinity experienced significant transitions in recent years, including multiple pastoral changes and the disruptions brought by COVID. Yet through each season, the congregation remained anchored in the same gifts that gave it life in the beginning: God’s Word and Sacraments.

Growth at Holy Trinity has never been measured only by numbers, but by faithfulness, remaining rooted in Scripture, confessing Christ crucified and risen, and passing the faith on to the next generation.

How Does Holy Trinity View Leadership?

Holy Trinity understands leadership as service, not status.

Pastors and lay leaders serve under Christ, the true Head of the Church. Pastoral leadership is grounded in the faithful preaching of Law and Gospel, the administration of the Sacraments, and the care of souls. Lay leaders serve alongside pastors, exercising their vocations for the good of the congregation and its mission.

Leadership at Holy Trinity is received as a gift from God and exercised humbly, for the sake of others.

A Season of Renewal and Discipleship

In recent years, Holy Trinity has entered a season of intentional renewal with a renewed focus on discipleship.

This includes a recommitment to:

  • Catechesis and lifelong faith formation
  • Word and Sacrament-centered worship
  • Family ministry across generations
  • Outreach to the surrounding community
  • Bearing one another’s burdens within the church and beyond

Holy Trinity seeks to be God’s hands and feet, not only for one another, but for the community, the nation, and throughout God’s creation.

Our Vision for the Future

Holy Trinity looks to the future with confidence, not in itself, but in Christ and His promises.

Guided by God’s calling, Holy Trinity Lutz lives out its mission:

Following Jesus — Serving All

The congregation’s shared vision is to be:

  • A beacon of hope in the community
  • A place where guests are welcomed, included, and invited to return
  • A church where members flourish in faith, connection, and care
  • A community that reaches outward, multiplying disciples and families who follow Jesus

As Holy Trinity moves forward, it does so trusting that the same Lord who gathered His people in the past continues to gather, forgive, and send them today.
