Since 1997, Little Lambs Preschool has been both a ministry and a mission of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Established with a desire to serve children and families in our community, Little Lambs was founded to provide quality early childhood education in a loving Christian environment.
Faithful members and leaders, including Dora Bean, Tom Vest, and others, shared a vision of creating a place where children would be nurtured, encouraged, and prepared for a lifetime of learning.
Little Lambs has grown alongside the community it serves. When Director Dawn Bernicky joined the preschool in 2001, enrollment stood at only six children. Through God's blessings and the support of countless families, the preschool continued to grow and expanded to include Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten program in 2005.
Today, Little Lambs serves children from one year old through VPK, as well as school-age children during holidays and summer months.
A Legacy of Faithful Teachers
One of the greatest blessings of Little Lambs Preschool has been the faithful teachers who have served generations of children and families.
Director Dawn Bernicky has served at Little Lambs for nearly twenty-five years and brings more than thirty-four years of experience in early childhood education.
God has also blessed Little Lambs with long-serving staff members whose dedication has helped create the family atmosphere that parents have cherished for decades:
Their years of service reflect a culture of stability, care, and Christian love that continues to shape the life of Little Lambs.
Little Lambs is proud to partner with families throughout Lutz and the surrounding communities. We participate in Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten program and were recognized as a 2025–2026 High Class VPK Provider by the Early Learning Coalition of Pasco and Hernando Counties.
We are also honored to support the work of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through activities such as the annual St. Jude Trike-A-Thon, teaching children the joy of caring for others.
While much has changed over nearly three decades, one thing remains the same: our commitment to reaching children with the love of Christ and educating them for a future filled with faith, hope, and love.
By God's grace, we look forward to serving children and families for generations to come.
"Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God." — Mark 10:14
